The Silvestri Mountains, also known as Silvestri Craters, are two pyroclastic cones formed north of Nicolosi, at an altitude of about 1,900 m, on the slopes of the Etna volcano.The craters are named after the volcanologist Orazio Silvestri. The two craters that make up the main eruption apparatus of the 1892 eruption: which lasted 173 days and traveled about 7 kilometers, stopping just above.
